Hello, my name is Kristen Calcatera. I’ve been immersed in business operations my whole life, being the child of hard working, successful entrepreneurs who put me to work early on. I love the energy that goes hand in hand with innovation, capitalism, and self-determination. Anchoring my self-employment perspective is plenty of experience as an employee, working as director/manager for multinational corporations, learning how larger entities, with high stakes, manage budgeting, decision-making, and competition. As a volunteer, I’ve participated in and contributed to grass-roots community building for local non-profits. Each form of business is unique, but, common to all is the need for good customer relationships.
I've always been drawn to the people aspect of business, which means Marketing. From print to digital, I enjoy the nexus of media and message—form and function—to promote, inform, and connect. Kristen Calcatera, dba Big Sky Creative, is a freelance graphic design, writing, and marketing professional helping companies build great customer relationships. She has been a self-employed professional in the Monterey Bay Area since 1990, with parallel periods of employment at corporations including McGraw-Hill, Sony, and National Geographic Learning. Kristen has also been a graphic design instructor, using Adobe Creative Suite applications, at Monterey Peninsula College. She is currently delving in to the knowledge-commerce industry, using Kajabi to offer video-based courses for clients.
